| Centrepoint’s vision is that no young person will suffer social exclusion as a result of being on a downward spiral. We will achieve this by ensuring that each person has a personalised tailored programme of support and development, provided by ourselves or our partners. When it comes to tackling homelessness, getting a roof over your head is just the start. So our commitment is to providing the real means of escaping the downward spiral that leads to social exclusion. We are dedicated to helping young people create the social structures in their lives that can support and nourish them as individuals. Centrepoint recognises that, although security and shelter are necessary foundations of change in young people’s lives, they are not sufficient on their own. This is reflected in the scope and quality of the direct provision that it offers to all young people. More information about Centrepoint can be found at www.centrepoint.org.uk |

Every day in the UK, six young people will face a cancer diagnosis. Teenage Cancer Trust understands that teenage cancer requires specialist care and in fact, that young people have a much better chance in their fight against cancer if they are treated by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored to their needs. Teenage Cancer Trust builds units in NHS hospitals which improve the quality of life and chances of survival for young people (aged 13 to 24) with cancer. Unlike ‘ordinary’ hospital wards, they are designed specifically with teenagers in mind and include a recreational and study areas plus access to media facilities such as the internet, TV and music. It is estimated that with the number of units currently around the UK, only half of the teenagers diagnosed with cancer now have access to this dedicated, specialist support. The charity’s aim is build enough units so that by 2012 every single teenager with cancer will be treated on one. For more information about Teenage Cancer Trust and how you can get involved, visit www.teenagecancertrust.org. |
