Pink Floyd

English rock band Pink Floyd formed in 1965 by the original members Roger Waters, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and Bob Klose (who left soon after their formation). Their music diversified throughout their career from psychedelic rock led by Barrett in the 60s to progressive rock albums in the 70s. Philosophical lyrics, elaborate live stage shows and innovative album cover art have made Pink Floyd distinctive and one of the most iconic groups ever. After their debut album A Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (1967), David Gilmour joined the band with Barrett leaving due to personal issues. After his departure Waters became the front man and conceptualist for their albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and The Wall (1979). Waters left the band in 1983 and they continued without him until 1994's The Division Bell. In 2005 the band played at the Live 8 charity concert in London’s Hyde Park, the first time the classic lineup (Waters, Gilmour, Mason, Wright) played together in over 24 years.
